Hazy Day at the Rhine in Eltville

This little castle is built on an island in the river. The island is called Mariannenaue (thank you Pedi!). Unfortunately I don't know the name of the house (if it has a special name).

still a beautiful castle (it is true that this is a beautiful area for castles), I like the first, it feels to discover a secret passage leading to the castle.

Well, that is interesting....when I see places like this, I often wonder about the lady of the castle :) I can only imagine what it must have been like to select window treatments and furniture for each room...sigh....

Da will ich unbedingt irgendwann mal hin.
Monika

I like pictures taken through windows and doorways. I've just started a series of miniatures of doorways and their views.

Such a magical place! I hope you were inspired for your new restaurant, too.

It looks like a beautiful house in the middle of the river. I wonder, since the years it was built if it has ever been flooded.

And how did it fare during World War II? I would think it would have been shot up pretty bad during those years.

It is sure beautiful in your pictures. I am so glad you got to go home for a vacation.

Have a nice weekend.
