Icicles - up close and ... from yesterday

They are gone by now, as we have much milder weather. But aren't they interesting to look at? Click to enlarge!!
Die Eiszapfen sind mittlerweile weg, weil wir nun viel mildere Temperaturen haben. Aber sahen sie nicht toll aus? Clickt drauf um sie groesser zu sehen!!

Oh Gudl, they are amazing! Especially the close up ~~ I felt like I was inside one of those caves that have those kind of things hanging everywhere. (It's a long name, and I don't have time to look it up) but I bet Melissa knows!

Hey Wanda! They are called Stalactites (the ones that grow down in a cave). The ones that grow up are called Stalagmites.

And yes these icicles are amazing. I think it's interesting how when we think of them we think of sharp smooth dagger shapes, but they often have ridges and bumps all around.

The amazing thing about stalagmites and stalactites is you can't see them in a cave. They grow in the dark. Well most of the time you only see them when somebody turns on the lights. LOL

Ice and freezing drops of water can be seen almost anytime and those things come to mind in the heat of summer when it is so hot and humid that the bugs are sweating. That is when it is best to think of frozen ice drops.

I am so anxious to get rid of the last ice and get on with flowers bugs and bees.

And I found two honey bees yesterday. And photographed them. They were on some sunflowers chips and pieces and on pieces of peanuts. I don't know what food value there is on that but there they were.

I was just about to write the same thing as Wanda. They do look like what you see in caves! How interesting when you look at them up close.
