Elephant in the Little Forest

Haha, I couldn't resist giving the post this title!
On one of the frequent trips that my husband makes to India, he brought us this piece of art. The elephant is carved from one piece of wood and when you enlarge it and look closely you can see that there is another, little elephant inside the big one. Isn't that neat?

My wife would love this! She collects things that have elephants. :)

Yes, that is such a unique piece. A real conversation starter, too.

It is more than neat, it is special. Those kinds of carvings are hard to do. I have done my share of whittling and wood carving and I think this is one of the hardest jobs there is. You are so lucky to have it.

Well, now, you got to come back and take a look at me in my new blonde wig.

Viel Erfolg ;-)

That is an interesting carving. I know people who collect elephant ornaments. Aren't they supposed to mean good luck?

Hallo,

I love it! Nivya has a sort of elephant themed room. We bought a peacock like that (with a little one inside) for my mother in law when we were in India, but it is carved out of some sort of stone.

I wish I could go back to India, we spent so little time there.

BEAUTIFUL! I collect elephants - This one is really great! Love your title! :) I have one that is carved with another inside - it is just plain wood though = no fancy details like yours
