Volker's Wood

This is the wood that my brother-in-law made and brought up here from Connecticut! After his passing we were given the wood and we will think of Volker whenever we will use HIS wood!
Das ist das Holz das Volker in Connecticut gemacht hat! Nun haben wir es bekommen u wir werden immer an Volker denken, wenn wir es benutzten.

Heating with wood always makes me feel so comfortable. I suppose it takes me back to my youth when we heated the house either with the kitchen cookstove or the coal stove in the living room. But we had no money to buy coal very often so we mostly burned corn cobs which were free then, or, we burned whatever wood we could find. And that was before chains saws.

We have wood all over our yard too. Some of it will be milled into lumber, some of it is lumber, some of it is for the wood stove, and some it is just scrap and brush that get burned outside.

I'm sure you will think of him when you use his wood. I love a wood fire. The smell is so comforting. I wish I had a fireplace or a stove. I'd use it all the time!

Have you had bonfires yet this year? I really like bonfires.

That's a neat story.

When my father passed away, he had just made a huge batch of home made barbeque sauce. My mother divided it up and gave some to each of us. I thought of him every time we used it and actually got teary eyed when we ate the last of it.

I loved this! Before my daddy passed away, my dad and husband cut some trees on his property. When we went camping after my dad had passed, my husband informed me that we were using the wood from my dads place. I instantly felt warmer.
