On my Way to the Lake

I keep seeing these happy cows. I wish I knew what kind they are. They don't look like 'normal' cows to me. Any one out there knows what species they are?

I can find out for you. If you saw them at the end of Seneca Point Road, I know their owners. I'll find out and let you know, unless someone beats me to it!

Heissen die nicht "Yak"?

Gemma said...

They are Scottish Highlanders. My father raises the same kind of cows. I have some pictures of his cows that I might show in my blog some day. I like your photos!

yep I want to move to the country, just not next to frogs and toads, but the cow/steer/bovine is nice.

Yep, that's it. Scottish Highlanders. We get our hay for our animals from them.

Gudl said...

Steph, do they deliver the hay? How much does it cost? Do you hay feed your horse all year round? We will have to...how much hay do you think our horse will need a day?

I recognize those as Highland cattle. If you travel through Scotland, you'll find that the cows and sheep have a very distinctive appearance. I think it makes them look kind of warm & friendly.
