The house came with an inefficient fire place. It looked nice but didn't really heat the room. We (better, my husband) searched for a wood-burner-insert, but nothing did fit, so it had to go. Wall and all. Das Haus hatte einen Kamin, der schoen aussah, aber nicht wirklich heizte. So haben wir (besser gesagt, mein Mann) nach einem Holzbrennofeneinsatz (langes Wort!!) gesucht, aber keinen passenden gefunden. Deshalb musste der Kamin samt der Steinwand weg. 
With the help of our good contractor-friend we came up with this solution and we are very happy and warm with it! Mit der Hilfe unseres Freundes, der eine Baufirma hat, kamen wir zu dieser Loesung und wir sind sehr zufrieden und warm damit! 
The question is, HOW will get Santa Claus through the chimney now?? Nun bleibt die Frage, wie kommt der Nikolaus nun durch den Schornstein in das Haus??

on another note.... is that a red lacker or a red wood or just the way the pic took?
it is pretty and looks alot more effecient.
This is knotty pine stained red, like old barn wood.
We like it, too! And the ofen makes our little house very warm!
