Our daughter came back from her trail ride and told me she saw this huge bee's nest (yellow jackets?) high above her in a tree. So I had to find it, too and check it out. It is about 15 inches in length!
Unsere Tochter kam von ihrem Ritt durch den Wald zurueck u berichtete mir ueber ihre Entdeckung die sie gemacht hatte: Ein grosses Wespennest hoch oben im Baum. Das musste ich mir dann auch mal ansehen! Es ist ca. 30 cm hoch!

Pretty big nest. I'm glad for you that it is not close to or actually on your house or barn. Jamie and I had to call an exterminator just last week to get rid of a nest that bees had built inside of our bedroom wall!
I think those bees nests are awesome. It is right where it belongs, out in the woods and high in a tree. Just pass by quietly and don't make them angry.

That's nice. We keep hearing about a decline in the bee population and the bee keepers association here in the UK are very concerned about it.
