Woodpeckers frolicking in the Little Forest

Over the weekend I looked out of the window and saw these two woodpeckers flying around like crazy. They seemed to be very happy and when they peck on a dead branch like seen on the first photo, they make a lot of noise! Click on the photos to enlarge!

Angelika

The little forest is quite alive now..I love watching Woodpeckers...they are loud...that is for sure and quite persistant in their work...I always look forward to seeing what nature is about in your forest...

Oh yes, these are downy woodpeckers. The one I have on my birds blog is a red-bellied woodpecker.

We had woodpeckers this week but I think they may have been drilling on a house. Many times they like to peck the siding off and get inside. Not good for the homeowner and the dead trees were taken down shortly after I heard the first ones and haven't heard them again. I love watching them too.

I love how red that little guy's head is. How brilliant to see in a forest of brown and green?
You live in a great area!

I love these birds - I only get to enjoy them while we are camping though - they don't come near my home... Your pics of them are GREAT!

Great photos!

I love watching wood peckers, but I don't like it when they perch on our metal vent pipes and hammer at them early in the morning! hehe
