Little "Flying Planets" in the Forest

We have a couple of these trees in our woods and I wonder what they are. Don't they look 'interesting'? These "nuts" or whatever they are, reminded me of outer space. But heh, that's just me...

Wir haben ein paar dieser Baeume bei uns im Wald und ich frage mich was es fuer welche sind. Sehen sie nicht interessant aus? Diese "Nuesse" oder was immer das ist erinnerten mich an den Weltraum. Tja, das sind halt so meine Gedanken...

Foggy Morning in the Little Forest

I recorded this video yesterday morning. I thought it would be interesting for you to hear the sounds of the morning forest with the creek (lots of water!) and the birds. I hope you like it.

Well, in order to show you the sounds of the little creeks in our little forest, I created an You Tube account and posted this video. I hope you enjoy it! I did that yesterday.

Deer on my Way Home

It payed off having the camera in the car! Isn't that a beautiful shot? That was just around the corner from where we live.

Es hat sich gelohnt, die Kamera im Auto zu haben! Ist das nicht eine gute Aufnahme? Bei uns um die Ecke aufgenommen.

Dashing through the Snow ;-)

I think this is it with the snow pictures!! We had warm temperatures and some rain! Let's hope that the grass will be green soon!

Ich denke, das es nun rum ist mit den Schneebildern! Wir hatten warme Temperaturen und auch Regen!! Nun hoffen wir, dass das Gras bald gruen ist.

Happy First Day of Spring ;-)

Heute ist Fruehlingsanfang und es soll heute auch tatsaechlich sehr mild werden und der Schnee wird tauen. Dieses Foto habe ich allerdings gestern an unserem See aufgenommen. Die Enten stehen auf Gras, hinter der Steinreihe beginnt das Wasser, wie man sieht, noch viel Eis. Uebrigens ist unser See sehr lang und geht so weit das Auge reicht. Hinten noch um die Ecke. Sieht es nicht schoen aus, auch wenn noch immer Schnee u Eis?

Today is the first day of Spring and it is supposed to get very mild today and the snow will melt. However, this picture was taken yesterday at our lake and as you can see there is still a lot of ice. The ducks are standing on grass; the water starts after the row of stones. The lake is long- it goes all the way to the end, even around the corner. Isn't it pretty? Even though still snow and ice?

On the Way to School

The 'city' is 20 Min. away from where we live. Here you can see the Courthouse. (Waiting at the intersection)

Die "Stadt" ist 20 Min. entfernt von wo wir wohnen. Hier sieht man das Gerichtsgebaeude. (An der Ampel wartend aufgenommen als ich unsere Tochter aus Gefaelligkeit in die Schule gefahren habe)

Ponies in the Snow

These are the miniature ponies down the road that I showed before. (The 'other' farm) Sometimes our daughter brings them in at night and feeds them etc. They all have their own personality and it is fun to get to know them!

We got a lot of snow over night! It started snowing yesterday afternoon and it never stopped. Still doing it!! More pictures of snow....

Das sind noch mal die Mini-Ponies aus unserer Strasse, die ich schon mal gezeigt habe. Der andere Stall. Manchmal bringt sie unsere Tochter abends rein und fuettert sie etc. Sie haben alle ihre eigenen Persoenlichkeiten und es macht Spass sie kennenzulernen.

Ueber Nacht haben wir wieder viel Schnee bekommen! Es fing gestern Nachmittag an zu schneien und hat bisher nicht aufgehoert! Mehr Schneebilder....

On my Way to Town

The ice on the lake is melting, but this flock of birds still found room to rest on it. What kind of birds are these anyway? Are these canandian geese? They look like birds here....

Das Eis auf dem See ist am Schmelzen, aber dieser Vogelschwarm fand doch noch genug Platz zum Ausruhen. Was fuer Voegel sind das eigentlich? Sind das Wildgaense? Sehen hier wie Voegel aus...

On my Way Home

On Monday I gave our daughter a ride to school and on the way back I passed this flock of wild turkeys. We see them all the time, but finally I had my camera in the car and was able to take a picture. There were about 15 turkeys, but of course when they saw me getting out of the car they ran! Well, I am used to that. ...

Als ich am Montag unsere Tochter zur Schule brachte, kam ich auf dem Rueckweg an diesem Schwarm von wilden Truthaehnen vorbei. Wir sehen sie oft, doch dieses Mal hatte ich endlich meine Kamera dabei und konnte sie fotographieren. Es waren ca. 15 Truthaehne und Hennen, aber als sie mich aus dem Auto kommen sahen, sind sie natuerlich gerannt! Das bin ich aber gewohnt...

Pony-Sitting

Last weekend our daughter took care of the four ponies of friends of ours. She loves doing that. Their farm is not far from here and lies on the hill and has beautiful scenery all around. The snow is melting now. Yesterday we had 65 deg. F! And today it will be almost that warm.

Am letzten Wochenende hat unsere Tochter voller Freude auf die vier Ponies von Bekannten von uns aufgepasst. Sie wohnen nicht weit von hier auf einem Huegel von wo man einen schoenen Ausblick hat. Der Schnee schmilzt nun. Gestern waren es 18 Gr. C. und heute soll es auch fast so warm werden!

Boat Slips from Above! For Romy

Bootplaetze von oben! Wegen dem Eis wurden sie zusammengeschoben u sehen wie ein Gitter aus. Normalerweise sind sie offen, damit die Boote reinfahren koennen. Siehe erstes Bild. Dieser Hafen ist ca. 10 Min. von uns entfernt am See und das gestrige Foto wurde vom Kliff aus aufgenommen. Die Idee fuer diesen Quiz kam von Romy, die ihr auf dem zweiten Foto seht. Wir haben es letzten Freitag aufgenommen.Danke, Romy. Auf Wiedersehen!!

Because of the ice they are stuck together like lattice. Normally they are open so that the boats can go in, see first picture. This harbor is about 10 Min. from here at our lake and yesterday's photo was taken up on the cliff. The Idea for this "Quiz" came from Romy. We took the photo last Friday. Thank you Romy! Come again!! Bye bye.
