A Good Find at Daytona Beach

Another trip to Florida!!
It will be hot! But that is exactly what we want to experience! See how Florida is in summer....
This time we will spend a few days in Daytona Beach, but also drive around.
Zum dritten Mal geht's nach Florida! Es wird heiss sein! Aber das genau wollen wir dort mal 'erleben' u sehen wie es dort im Sommer so ist. Wir werden ein paar Tag in Daytona Beach sein, aber auch rumfahren. Diese Fotos hier sind von New Smyrna Beach wo wir letztes Mal waren, das ist ganz in der Naehe von Daytona.

Sad Story

These are pictures of trees in our little forest. Last week we had a very frosty night and this is what happened to about a forth of our trees on the hill. I have never sees this before. What can you do...
Das ist eine traurige Geschichte: Die Bilder zeigen unsere Baeume im kleinen Wald. Letzte Woche hatten wir noch mal eine Nacht mit Frost u das ist nun mit ungefaehr einem viertel unserer Baeume auf unserem Huegel passiert! So was hatte ich noch nie gesehen.

The Day After...

...I think Markus said five buildings burned down. They were able to rescue a lumber yard across the street! The fire was started by teenagers.
Das war am Tag danach. Fuenf Gebaeude sind abgebrannt. Sie konnten aber eine Holzhandlung gegenueber retten. Das Feuer wurde von Teenagern gelegt.

Big Fire in Salamanca

The day before Mother's Day there was a HUGE fire in the city where my oldest son is a firefighter. These are some of the photos he collected. In the last picture he is actually in the building, on the top floor on the right, shortly before this building caught fire from the building across the street!
The second picture shows him, too!
Am Samstag vor Muttertag war in der Stadt in der Markus arbeitet ein Riesenfeuer. Das sind ein paar von den Bildern die Markus gesammelt hat. Im letzten Bild ist er noch im Gebaeude, zusammen mit einem Freund, bevor das Feuer rueberkam, innerhalb von 5 Minuten!! Auf dem zweiten Foto ist er auch abgebildet.

Spring has Sprung in the Little Forest

Every year I love those tiny little leaves.... Another year.... Time flies when you are having fun ;-)
Alle Jahre wieder.... Der Fruehling ist da u die erfreue mich an den kleinen Blaettern im Kleinen Wald. Natuerlich denke ich wie jedes Jahr an Opa u Papa : "Der Wald wird gruen, der Wald wird gruen"

Last week we had wonderful spring weather and Abby and I got to enjoy a morning at the lake. Abby is getting old...she is white in her face now! Here she is tanning herself ;-)
Letzte Woche hatten wir wunderbares Fruehlingswetter u Abby u ich haben es am See genossen. Abby wird nun alt. ...sie ist ganz weiss im Gesicht! Hier sonnt sie sich gerade!

Markus and Abby

Late in life Abby developed a loving friendship with Markus which is nice to watch. For a long, long time she didn't like Markus and distrusted him, but now it's like she is in love with him! Very funny!!
Im Alter hat sich Abby nun in Markus 'verliebt' u das ist schoen anzusehen! Lange Zeit konnte sie naemlich Markus nicht leiden u hat ihm nicht getraut. Und nun diese Liebe! Das ist lustig.

Driving by we saw this huge nest. Honestly, I have no idea what bird it is ... I suspect a hawk.
Dieses grosse Vogelnest haben wir im Vorbeifahren gesehen. Ehrlich gesagt, habe ich keine Ahnung welche Vogelart da drin sitzt. Ich denke mal eine Falkenart.

This here was a huge turtle in the pond of our friends vacation home. It was about a foot long (or more?!!)
Die naechsten paar Tage zeige ich euch Fotos von wild lebenden Tieren in Florida. Diese grosse Schildkroete lebt im Teich unserer Freunde (in dem Ferienpark dort) . Sie war ca. 40 cm lang!

St. Augustine Cross

The last few days we were in Florida again and on Wednesday we spend the day in St. Augustine, the oldest city of America. Here we saw this massive structure, made of stainless steel and rising two hundred and eight feet. Of course it reminded me of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, and that we were in the middle of Holy Week. This song comes to my mind: (Galatians 2:20)

"I've been crucified with Christ

Die letzten Tage verbrachten wir wieder in Florida u am Mittwoch waren wir in St. Augustine, die aelteste Stadt von Amerika, wo dieses riesengrosse Kreuz steht. Ich musste natuerlich an meinen Herrn Jesus denken u an die Tatsache, dass wir uns in der Karwoche befinden. Dazu fiel mir das oben genannte Lied ein, in englisch.
In deutsch faellt mir ein "Oh Haupt voll Blut und Wunden ... "

Fruehlingserwachen!

Da faellt mir immer ein: Was ist das Gegenteil von Fruehlingserwachen?
Abends rechts einschlafen! haha.
Sorry, dass ich so lange nicht geposted habe. Aber ich bin immer sehr beschaeftigt u ausserdem habe ich alles schon gezeigt. Aber da ich weiss, dass ich treue Leser habe... hier ein Bild, fast wie letztes Jahr. Daisy ist nun wieder zurueck aus ihrem Winterurlaub (auf der Farm von Melissa's Trainerin) u haelt hier gerade ein Schlaefchen hinter ihrem Stall im Sonnenschein. Ich habe das von unserer Terrasse aus aufgenommen. Wir hatten wunderschoenes Wetter mit sehr milden Temperaturen, so dass wir sogar schon Gaeste in unserem "Biergarten" hatten! Heute ist es kuehler u es regnet. Aber das war ja klar, dass der Sommer noch nicht da ist!
The title of my post means "Spring Awakening". And I told a joke about it in German, but it makes only sense in German, so I'm not even trying to attempt to translate it. Sorry, that I haven't posted in a long time, but nothing new happened... everything repeats every year it seems and I have shown it all. But since I know that I have a few loyal readers... here is another picture of Daisy napping in the sun behind her barn, taken from our patio. Daisy is back from her winter vacation at the farm of Melissa's trainer. We had wonderful warm spring weather so that we even had guests in our "beer garden" already! But now it is cooler again and rainy. Summer is not yet here... oh well. At least spring is.

Fun in the Sun

We still have a lot of snow! But at least the sun is out the last three days! Here you see our son running with 'our' dogs.
Wir haben noch immer sehr viel Schnee! Aber immerhin scheint die Sonne die letzten paar Tage. Hier sieht man Michael mit unseren Hunden.

Where is my bone?!

Last weekend we got A LOT of snow! After we were plowed out I went with the dog for a walk. All of a sudden she went into the woods, into the deep snow and came out with her 'treasure': a deer leg bone. She knew exactly where it was hiding!!
Am letzten Wochenende hat es bei uns wahnsinnig viel geschneit! Als unsere Einfahrt frei war, bin ich mit dem Hund spazieren gegangen. Ploetzlich ist sie in den tiefen Schnee gesprungen u hat wie wild gebuddelt, bis sie mit ihrem "Schatz" rauskam: Ein Rehbeinknochen! Sie wusste genau, wo er versteckt war!
