Into the Wild

This year my husband had no time to mow our trail and this is how it looked like last week in our fruit field! In the middle of the photo you can see my path! A little further down you see the following plants. Isn't it neat how this flower grows out of the tree?
By now the trees are starting to get colorful. We didn't have a lot of sun the last couple of days. Oh well. The weekend is supposed to be better again. Just in time for our Oktoberfest at the Rheinblick!
Dieses Jahr hatte mein Mann keine Zeit den Pfad zu maehen u nun sieht er so verwildert aus (1. Foto, Mitte, das ist mein Weg!)
Wenn man entlang geht kommt man an diesen verschiedenen Pflanzen vorbei. Ich fand es toll, wie die eine Blume aus dem Baum waechst! Mittlerweile werden die Blaetter farbig u diese Woche hatten wir wenig Sonne, aber es soll zum Wochenende besser werden, rechtzeitig fuer's Rheinblick Oktoberfest!

Triathlon

Last Sunday our oldest son Markus participated in a big Triathlon here in our town. He had to swim, bike and run a section. It was a personal best time for him and we are very proud of him! I think he said about 1000 people participated for this fundraiser.
Am letzten Sonntag hat unser aeltester Sohn an einem Triathlon teilgenommen. Er musste ein Stueck schwimmen, radfahren u rennen. Er hat eine persoenliche Bestzeit erzielt u wir waren sehr stolz auf ihn! Angeblich haben 1000 Leute an dieser Veranstaltung fuer einen guten Zweck teilgenommen.

Fresh Worms anybody?

Every year when I watch the farmers plow their fields I see how the seagulls feast on the fresh worms and later on the seeds. I thought I show it to you! How do the seagulls find out that there is food? This is not right at the lake! Interesting... If you click on the photos you can see the birds better!
Jedes Jahr wenn der Bauer die Felder umpfluegt, sehe ich die Seemoewen, wie sie sich an den frischen Wuermern erfreuen u spaeter auch an der Saat. Ich dachte, ich zeige euch das mal. Wie erfahren die Voegel wohl, dass es da gerade so viele Wuermer gibt? Diese Felder liegen nicht gerade am See, sondern sind bei uns um die Ecke. Ich finde das interessant. Wenn ihr auf die Fotos clickt, koennt ihr die vielen Voegel besser sehen!
Und da faellt mir noch ein "Sie saehen nicht, sie ernten nicht, und doch ernaehrt sie der Vater im Himmel" (fuer Melissa ;-))

Michael on his Way ;-)

Last week Michael went to an open house of a big accounting firm in Rochester. He kind of got his feet wet in 'his' field. Doesn't he look sharp? He hopes to land a job with this company once he finished his Master's Degree in Accounting.
Letzte Woche hat sich Michael bei einer grossen Wirtschaftspruefer-Firma in Rochester bei einem Open House vorgestellt. Er hofft, dort eine Stelle zu bekommen, wenn er mit seiner Ausbildung zum Wirtschaftspruefer fertig ist. Sieht er nicht gut aus?

Lesson in Endurance

This snail made it all the way into the blossom of this high flower that is waving in the wind. I found that interesting! It shows that if we have patience and go on step by step we can to 'it' ...
Diese Schnecke zeigte mir, dass wenn man Geduld u Ausdauer hat, man vieles erreichen kann. Sie schaffte es bis in die Bluete dieser hohen Blume, die auch noch im Wind schaukelt!

First Day of High School

Yesterday was Melissa's first day in High School! She survived!! Here you can see how we picked her up at the bus in the afternoon.
Gestern war Melissas erster Tag in der High School (die letzten 4 Schuljahre). Sie war sehr aufgeregt, aber wie man sehen kann, hat sie den ersten Tag gut ueberlebt ;-)

Visit to Connecticut

My friend Heidi is here from Germany and we went to CT to my sisters' German Restaurant and the next day to New York City. We had hot summer weather and a lot of fun!
Meine Freundin Heidi ist da aus Deutschland u wir haben das deutsche Lokal meiner Schwester besucht u am naechsten Tag sind wir nach New York City gefahren. Wir hatten heisses Sommerwetter und viel Spass!
