Fun in the Little Forest

This weekend my German niece and a friend of hers are here to visit. Needless to say, the girls are having a lot of fun! Yesterday our daughter let them ride Daisy. They loved it!

Another Beauty in the Little Forest

I see a few of those flowers on my walks. It's funny, I didn't notice them last year. They are blooming right now. Their name is Trillium I hear from fellow bloggers! Thank you to Priscilla and Farmgirl!

Cool Days in the Little Forest

This week was unseasonably cold here, but of course that did not keep me from walking throught the woods. I found this egg lying on the ground, it was very small, almost like a jelly bean. I didn't see a nest.

Ende.

Thank you everbody for your congratulations yesterday! That was nice of you.
Vielen Dank fuer eure Glueckwuensche gestern. Das war nett von euch!

Surprise!

Today is our 20th wedding anniversary! My husband is not home, he is on a business trip (but he will be home tonight). He called me early this morning and said I should have a look in his wardrobe! And that is what I found! Isn't that sweet! You can see the basket from all sides. It found it's place on our front stoop.
I am very happy that we celebrate this day today. I have to tell you, it hasn't been easy, but with the help of God we made it to this day and we will continue in the future. We are definitely getting better at this 'marriage-thing' and our love for each other continues to grow. I know this sounds cheezy, but it is the truth.
This was in my daily bible reading today and I find it fitting for me, so I will share it with you ;-) ... Psalm 117: Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth.
For he loves us with unfailing love; the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!
Heute haben wir unseren 20. Hochzeitstag!
Psalm 117
Halleluja!

On Saturday our daughter went riding with a friend.
The weather was great and the four of them had a lot of fun!
Don't they look great?

Playing with Abby

Some time last week I took these pictures of our dog Abby. As you can see I was playing with the camera. One time I focused on the dog and one time on the beautiful background :-)

Tiny Birds

Since one week the hummingbirds are back! We were very happy to see that.

Tiny Blossoms

I am sure you all know that these are wild strawberry blossoms.
I don't know...I just enjoy every little thing.
The other day I came home and had my camera in the car when I saw the little deer on our lawn. You could almost think it is our pet!

Our Fruit Field

I love the white tree in the midst of the green. That is one of the old apple trees. The blossoms start out pink and then they turn to be all white. I like that! The litte forest is filling in more and more.

Little Umbrella Plants

Every spring these plants shoot up in some areas of the little forest. Soon they will have flowers, too. I don't know what the name of this plant is but it reminds me of an umbrella and I find it interesting. Does anybody of my readers know the name of these?
(The first photo I added for all the readers who love to see my daughter on her horse ;-)) - that photo is from yesterday, the sun was shining and it was just lovely outside.)

Our Park

Doesn't it look like a park? This photo is from Sunday. On Saturday my husband mowed at the driveway, I think it looks great!(On a different note...I find it funny that our daughter just 'jumps' on the horse and goes riding, no saddle - as if she didn't have one!)

Thank you to my Kids and Huz!

I had a really nice Mother's Day.
I feel so blessed. Look at all the presents and cards I received! And my oldest son called. That all made me very happy. We went to a nice restaurant at the Lake for dinner and also for a walk in our Little Forest. The whole family came - you can see more photos on
M. blog right here.

Happy Mother's Day...

...to all my readers out there who are mothers! I was thinking about you and wanted to encourage you with a bible verse and this one came to mind:
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons (or daughters) of God" Matthew 5:9
(isn't that your job at times to be the peacemaker in the family?!)
Have a great day! And thanks for reading my blog. (this is the blossom of our old apple tree)

We have Flowers, too ;-)

Last year I showed you this spot when with all the dandelion clocks, so now I decided to show you the field when it is in full bloom. I remember we had a discussion about dandelion, some people hate it, some love it.
I tell you, our chickens love it!! They get a portion of d. leaves every day. They are waiting at the gate for me to throw it in their cage.

Sunny Morning in the Little Forest

It got chilly here again, but at least the sun is shining today! These pictures are from last week; by now the forest is much greener and filling in quickly. We can hardly see our valley. It is wonderful to see the seasons change.

Watch that video if you need to smile!

Weekend Work

Last weekend was warm and my husband put our vegetable garden in. You can see him working in the background of the first photo. In that picture you see Daisy-Mae all 'pretty'. She has the look as if she wants to say 'Don't I look good'.... ;-) (It took a while for M. to get all the braids in!)

New Green Everywhere

On my walks through the little forest I see plants sprouting up everywhere now. All those little leaves are a joy for me to see. On the second photo you see the fern growing. I always think it looks strange in the beginning and out of this thin, funny looking stick comes a beautiful plant.

Our Cat with the extra Claws (polydactyl )

This is Genevieve, the other barn cat. She is special because at her front feet she has two extra claws each. Look at the closeups! Isn't that cool? She reminds us a lot of our old cat 'Pueppi' that died two years ago. She has the same personality and even the same face! We are very happy with our barn cats Genevieve ("Jenny") and Groenemeyer ("Groenie")! They are so funny to watch and very loveable, too.

Woodpeckers frolicking in the Little Forest

Over the weekend I looked out of the window and saw these two woodpeckers flying around like crazy. They seemed to be very happy and when they peck on a dead branch like seen on the first photo, they make a lot of noise! Click on the photos to enlarge!

Our Creek - Unser Bach

Whenever I walk by our little creek I think of bible verses that include 'water'...different ones come to mind. Yesterday I was reminded of Psalm 23, in verse 2 it says "He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides quiet waters"
Indeed, he restores my soul. Have a great Sunday!

Deer don't like Daffodils - they do like Tulips ;-)

That's why we have a few of them in our yard. This photo is from yesterday. The deer looked at me and stayed and watched until Abby chased them away. There were more of them, that are not seen in the picture. We like it when they visit.
